Hello. WEVE has been selected as a representative company in the field of PL inspection technology in the 2024 Micro LED Technology, Equipment, and Manufacturing Report by YOL INTELLIGENCE. We attach the introduction article. [ As of December 19, 2024 ]

WEVE (CEO Sungbin Joo), a next-generation optical analysis technology company, has been recognized as a leading company in the field of photoluminescence (PL) inspection technology in the 2024 Micro LED Technology, Equipment and Manufacturing Report by global market research firm Yole Intelligence.

The report analyzes key technologies and companies in the micro LED industry, and WEVE was specifically recognized for its next-generation PL inspection equipment.

Yole Technologies describes WEVE's technology as “the next generation of inspection equipment that meets both high resolution and high inspection speed in the field of micro LED inspection,” and unlike the other PL inspection equipment manufacturers featured (Toray, Hamamatsu, and AlphaBetter), WEVE is analyzed in detail.

PL testing is a technique for analyzing the optical and electronic properties of materials based on the phenomenon of photoluminescence, in which certain materials absorb light energy and emit it.

It is essential in the LED field to analyze the light emission pattern of devices and diagnose defects by utilizing the ability of semiconductors and nanomaterials to absorb and emit light.

The inspection equipment developed by WEVE, 'Bandi', is characterized by providing various inspection functions throughout the entire process of micro LED manufacturing.

Unlike existing equipment that mainly inspects the appearance of the device and diagnoses luminescence defects, Bandi covers ▲ device appearance ▲ luminescence pattern ▲ luminescence intensity ▲ and chromaticity.

In addition, the inspection scope has been expanded to include not only the display substrate transfer process, but also wafer quality inspection, which is a step before manufacturing.

“The biggest obstacle to the mass production of micro LEDs is still the high manufacturing unit cost, which can be overcome to realize the 'dream display',” said Mr. Sungbin Joo, CEO of WEVE.

“Precise inspection equipment plays an important role in accurately diagnosing defects throughout the manufacturing process and providing key insights for process improvement.”

WEVE's PL inspection equipment technology is considered a key factor in supporting the development of the micro LED industry and is expected to lead the global market in the future.

Hello, WEVE has been selected for 'Scale-up Tips', a collaborative government-private startup support project run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. I attach the introductory article.  [ as of Dec. 02, 2024 ]

WEVE, a developer of next-generation optical analysis technology, today announced that it has been selected for the Tech Investor Program for Scale-up (TIPS) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

TIPS is a program that supports promising companies in the manufacturing and hardware sectors by leveraging private expertise. If a private operator invests more than KRW 1 billion, the government will provide up to KRW 2 billion in investment-type R&D and up to KRW 1.2 billion in non-investment-type R&D for three years.

Founded in 2014, WEVE develops measurement equipment for research and industry based on optical technology. WEVE's inspection equipment 'Bandi' can perform precise inspection of wafers (semiconductor discs utilized as raw materials for LED devices) and devices throughout the entire process.

In particular, the device appearance, luminescence, luminous intensity, and chromaticity can all be identified, and defects that may occur in each process can be predicted with a high probability. Compound semiconductor inspection equipment for renewable energy and secondary batteries is also being developed for release next year.

Through the Scale-Up Tips, WEVE will develop defect inspection technology that can be applied to the entire micro LED process. “Micro LEDs require microscopic processing, so it is difficult to resolve the myriad of defects that appear using conventional quality inspection methodologies,” said Dr. Sungbin Joo, CEO of WEVE.

“WEVE is developing equipment that combines fast inspection speed and high precision with the highest level of spectral imaging technology to provide new inspection standards for next-generation technologies.”

Hello, this is WEVE. WEVE attended Nano Korea 2024, the 22nd International Nanotechnology Symposium and Convergence Exhibition, held from July 3 to July 5, 2024 at KINTEX in Ilsan, Korea. Through this exhibition, we had the opportunity to discuss with many people about our more advanced Raman technology. We have continued to develop high-performance equipment to support researchers or employees in each field. We promise to continue to provide more outstanding related technologies and support in the future. Attached is a YouTube link to a sketch video of the Nano Korea exhibition where WEVE participated. We would like to thank everyone for their greetings.
